Youssef Courbage

Démographe, ancien directeur de recherche à l’Institut national d’études démographiques (Ined). Il a fait des études en sciences économiques et en sociologie à Beyrouth avant de les poursuivre à Paris, où il s’est spécialisé en démographie et en urbanisme. Il a été expert à l’Unesco puis aux Nations Unies à Beyrouth (1973-1975), Le Caire (1975-1977), Yaoundé (1977-1979), Port-au-Prince (1979-1984) et Rabat (1984-1989), puis chercheur à l’Institut national d’études démographiques (Ined), Paris. Entre 2003 et 2005, il a été détaché à l’Institut français du Proche-Orient (Ifpo) à Beyrouth, dont il a dirigé le département des études contemporaines.

Loi Yadan: «Critiquer le sionisme marque un attachement à la vie et à la paix juste»

La proposition de loi Yadan visant à réprimer «les nouvelles formes d’antisémitisme» sera débattue le jeudi 16 avril 2026 par les députés. L’antisionisme n’est pas de l’antisémitisme. Comme tout nationalisme, le sionisme, contesté depuis l’origine, y compris par des Juifs, ne peut conduire qu’à des drames.

Iranian elections increase Middle East proliferation

It is obvious that the current situation in Iran spells that the regime intends to continue its nuclear program. While that is the target of the Obama administration’s agenda in the Middle East, the reinstitution of Mahmoud Ahmedinajad to the Iranian presidency will also cause nuclear and conventional weapons proliferation to take additional dimensions in the rest of the Middle East as well. There is evidence that neighboring Arab states had been initiating their own troubling nuclear activities prior to the Iranian elections. Just past may, the IAEA reported traces of enriched uranium in Egypt. It is now widely accepted that the Syrian site bombed by Israel in September, 2007 contained a secret nuclear reactor being built with North Korean assistance
