J’ai découvert à 7 ans le nom et le visage si jeune de Maurice Audin, peu après son enlèvement par les parachutistes français à Alger. J’étais encore enfant, mais ma maman faisait partie du cercle restreint des « porteurs de valises ».
Notre petit appartement de la Porte de Vanves accueillait fréquemment des réunions: entre Français ou avec des militants du Front de libération nationale (FLN) algérien. Bientôt, il y aurait des piles de livres interdits: « La Question », d’Henri Alleg et « La Torture dans la République », de Pierre Vidal-Naquet..L’historien avait aussi écrit « L’Affaire Audin », que je me souviens avoir lu, mais un peu plus tard,
C’est tout cela qui me revient en apprenant la disparition de Josette Audin. Je ne crois pas avoir rencontré une autre combattante de cette trempe ! Pendant plus de soixante ans, elle aura lutté sans jamais céder pour savoir et faire savoir la vérité.
Sa mort m’attriste profondément, comme celle d’une très proche. Mais je suis heureux que ses derniers mois aient été éclairé par une grande victoire: la reconnaissance par le président de la République de la responsabilité de l’État et de son armée.dans l’assassinat de Maurice Audin. Il reste bien sûr beaucoup à faire pour que cette reconnaissance s’étendre à tous les disparus, à tous les assassinés de cette guerre barbare. Mais un grand pas en avant a été fait grâce à cette femme exceptionnelle.
